Mini-split & HVAC questions, answered

Doing it yourself

DIY & installation

About 90% of our customers install their own systems. Here's what that actually involves — and what we handle if you'd rather not.

Can I really install a mini-split myself?
About 90% of our customers do. If you can mount a bracket, drill one wall opening, and connect the line set by the instructions, you can handle most single-zone installs — and we're happy to talk you through sizing and placement before you buy. Not comfortable with the electrical hookup? Many DIYers have an electrician handle just that part, or we can install the whole system for you.
What's involved in a DIY install?
Most single-zone installs come down to four jobs: mounting the indoor unit's bracket, drilling one small opening through the wall for the line set, setting the outdoor unit on a pad or brackets, and connecting the line set and wiring per the manufacturer's instructions. Most handy homeowners plan on a weekend the first time. Before you buy, tell us about your space and we'll flag anything unusual about placement or line-set length so there are no surprises.
What about the electrical hookup?
The electrical connection is the one step many DIYers hand off. A mini-split typically needs its own dedicated circuit and an outdoor disconnect, and depending on local code that work may call for a licensed electrician. Plenty of our customers install everything else themselves and bring in an electrician for just the final hookup — or we can handle the entire installation for you.
Do you offer professional installation?
Yes. Our team professionally installs single- and multi-zone ductless systems in homes and businesses across Northeast Arkansas — the same equipment we sell for DIY, installed and set up for you. Quotes are free either way. See our mini-split installation service for details, or call (870) 378-6004.

Picking the right system

Choosing & sizing

Sizing and zoning are where we help the most — free, before you spend a dime.

What size mini-split do I need?
Sizing comes down mostly to the square footage of the space, along with ceiling height, insulation, sun exposure, and how many windows and doors it has. Undersized systems run constantly and oversized ones cycle on and off, so it pays to get it right. Tell us about your room and we'll size it for you — free, with no obligation to buy.
Single-zone or multi-zone?
A single-zone system pairs one outdoor unit with one indoor unit — perfect for one room, a garage, a shop, or an addition. A multi-zone system runs two or more indoor units off a single outdoor unit, so each room holds its own temperature. The right choice depends on your layout and budget, and we're glad to talk through both before you decide.
Do mini-splits heat as well as cool?
Yes — every complete system we sell is a heat pump, so the same wall unit that cools you in July warms you in January. Instead of generating heat, it moves heat from the outdoor air into your home, which is why mini-splits can be so inexpensive to run. One system, year-round comfort.
Do they keep up with Arkansas winters?
Yes. Mini-splits are heat pumps, and modern units are built to keep heating in temperatures well below freezing — more than enough for a typical Northeast Arkansas winter. Tell us about your space and we'll point you to a unit with the right cold-weather rating.

What it costs

Pricing

What's included, what's extra, and how to get an exact number for your space.

What does the $499 price include?
Complete heat-and-cool systems start at $499 — that's a full single-zone ductless system that both heats and cools. Installation is extra, larger sizes and multi-zone setups cost more, and prices can change with the market — call (870) 378-6004 for today's exact pricing on the size you need.
How much is installation?
Installation cost depends on the number of zones, where the indoor and outdoor units go, how much line set the run needs, and what your site requires — so we don't quote it sight unseen. What we can promise is that the quote itself is free and comes with zero pressure. Call, stop by the shop, or send the contact form and we'll get you a straight number for your exact job.
Do you offer financing?
Payment options can change, so the honest answer is: call us and ask. We'll tell you exactly what's available right now — reach us at (870) 378-6004.

Care & upkeep

Service & repair

Keeping your system clean, healthy, and running for the long haul.

Do you repair systems bought elsewhere?
Give us a call at (870) 378-6004 and tell us the brand and what the system is doing — or not doing. We'll tell you straight away whether it's something we can take on, and what the next step would be. We service and repair ductless systems and heat pumps across Northeast Arkansas.
Why does my mini-split smell musty?
A musty smell usually means moisture and dust have built up on the indoor unit's coil and blower wheel — a dark, damp spot where mold and bacteria like to grow. It's common, and it's fixable: our antibacterial treatment deep-cleans the unit and treats those surfaces so the air coming out smells clean again. Rinsing your dust filters regularly helps keep it from coming back.
How often should my system be serviced?
For most systems, a professional cleaning and check-up about once a year keeps everything running efficiently — plus a quick rinse of the indoor unit's dust filters every few weeks during heavy summer and winter use. If you notice weak airflow, odd smells, or a creeping power bill between visits, don't wait on the calendar — give us a call.
